Insulating your home properly is a good way to reduce energy costs. Proper insulation will keep your home cooler in the warmer months and warmer in the cooler months. This happens because heat that is trapped inside transfers outward to cooler air and when low grade insulation is used, "openings" can allow for heat to permeate. This permeation is what gives insulation its "R-Value." The higher R-Value the insulation, the less amount of heat can permeate through. The same is true for warmer air outside to permeate inward to a cooler interior. For a home that uses a low R-Value insulation, they will see inside temperatures warmer during the summer and cooler during the winter than a home that uses a higher R-Grade insulation. This translates to increased energy costs for heating and cooling your home.
